Last March, as winter was drawing to a close, my team and I were looking for a venue for this presentation when we fell in love with the Port de l’Arsenal, place that until now, had never hosted a fashion show. The proximity of the water and the lingering chill in the air
during those first days of spring reminded us of harbors around the world, places where paths cross. Some people arrive, others set sail; some wait for a loved one, while others prepare to say goodbye.
Ports, quays, and train stations are places where everyone is rushing toward their own destiny. I love finding a table nearby, ordering a coffee, and watching the constant flow
of people: imagining their journeys, reading their gestures, studying their silhouettes. In that sense, Port de l’Arsenal felt like the perfect setting to present a collection designed
for the warmer months: elegant yet relaxed, generous in volume and light in spirit. Never, however, could I have imagined such an intense heatwave.
Spring and summer have become increasingly complex seasons. Over the course of six months, we move from one extreme to another in terms of temperatures and what we need to wear. At the same time, I remain committed to presenting a complete wardrobe and showing only pieces that are commercialized. This new collection is no exception. It includes tailored pieces crafted from beautiful suiting fabrics, structured poplins, denim,
fine knits, and premium leather.
I like creating collections that dress everyday life as much as life’s special occasions. In this heat, I could have been tempted to hastily cut the sleeves off jackets and shirts or shorten every pair of trousers into shorts in order to reflect the mood of the moment. But
that would not have been true to Officine Générale, whose commitment is to offer clothing for every kind of weather throughout the season.
Thank you for being here, for your support, and for your continued loyalty.
Pierre.
